We sat down with Angela to hear a little more about her perspective on the Tactical Athlete. Here is what she had to say:

(TA-LB): The themes of the Tactical Athlete Leadership Board are Readiness, Resilience, and Recovery. From your perspective, why are these themes important, and what about them resonates with your experience in the human performance industry?

(Angela): Readiness and Resiliency are greatly influenced by an athlete's mindset and RippleWorx is performance optimization platform using business intelligence to increase the motivational levels of every individual to perform at their peak.

All these themes of the Tactical Athlete Leadership Board are important as they address an athlete's ability to individually perform to their optimum state. RippleWorx directly uses machine learning and Deep Sentiment Analysis or NLP to analyze the current motivational level (pulse) to understand when does the athlete have the right mindset to perform. When is a physical indicator, from biometrics, impacting their ability to perform? And, what technology "nudge", "training" or upskilling technique will be effective for that individual to perform at their optimum state?

(TA-LB): Looking to the future, what technological innovation do you think will have the most significant impact on tactical athletes?
(Angela): I think there are several innovations that can address the multi-faceted make-up of the tactical athlete. What we're interested in is an athlete's readiness score. How ready is an athlete physically, mentally and cognitively to perform? This readiness score will be compiled using NLP and a unique taxonomy in sentiment analysis to correlate psychological readiness along with physical readiness of biometric, statistics, and past performance. Through machine learning and artificial intelligence, training can become individualized to help individuals perform in a manner that is measurably effective and impacts overall team performance.

(TA-LB): The spirit of the TALB is to bring a diverse set of perspectives to the table aligned toward a singular purpose: to sustain the tactical athlete of today and prepare for the tactical athlete of tomorrow. Why is it essential for the broader human performance industry to work together towards this end?

(Angela): The overarching sum is greater than it's strongest individual part. Meaning, we are here to advance our country, society, and athletes through technology as a whole. These advancements can happen by sharing best practices to come up with this new model for performance.

(TA-LB): What is the greatest challenge to innovation in the human performance sector?

(Angela): Individualism. Team performance is comprised of individuals. To digitize a performance model, one has to be successful at accounting for individualism. Providing a predictable performance model, or framework, that scales has to account for the individual, dynamic needs and lifecycle for optimum performance.
